Mae Sot, Thailand Photos

Mae Sot sits just 5 km from the Myanmar border and is the closest Thai city to the Burmese capital, Yangon. That makes it one of most important cities for cross-border trade (and no small amount of smuggling). With an extremely diverse population, a thriving gem trade and surprisingly good seafood restaurants (the Myanmar coast isn’t far away), Mae Sot was one of the most fascinating places we visited in Thailand.
